Kahului is situated at the isthmus of the two islands which make up Maui's Valley Isle. Home to the central airport, Kahului also handles all the seaport traffic since the offshore reef on Maui's other side prevents large ships from entering Lahaina Harbor. Wailuku is the city center and houses all Maui's government entities. It is also where the Maui Commnity College, the Ka'ahumanu Shopping Center and the Maui Mall are located.
